Spring changes

By: Hannah Shaffer, Opinion Editor

Now that spring is upon us, so many things are changing. The trees slowly, but surely begin to blossom, the sun shines and even the moods of the people around begin to change. More time can be spent outside doing fun activities and enjoying the long awaited return of the beautiful weather. Although clothes can get iffy, that is irrelevant because spring, is in fact, the best season.

In the morning, there is nothing like the sun streaming through the window and hearing the birds outside singing their melodies. Yes, it’s cheesy, but it’s just a hopeful reminder that the day is one’s to make of it. The scenery changes everywhere with the trees, the flowers and being able to finally see grass after the long winters that fall upon us. The best are the days when the weather is just perfect, the breeze is soft and cool and one decides to hope in their car, turn on the tunes and cruise with all the windows down. It’s relaxing and beautiful.

Yes, the clothing on some becomes a little concerning, but it is another great thing about spring. Going on walks with shorts and a t-shirt and not having to worry about getting the hat and gloves is refreshing. Naturally, people just become a little more chipper, as if spring is a symbol of hope to everyone that there really is light at the end of the tunnel. Even when running to the store, strangers more commonly help out because they’re not so worried about getting out of the cold. And when people pass each other, they smile and say, “hello.” Spring is just filled with bright colors and happiness.

Unfortunately, some people actually enjoy the tribulations that winter can bring. Some people enjoy sledding, snowboarding or simply just making snowmen. However, really, it’s just a way to make the best of a bad situation. Winter is depressing, not to mention, dangerous. Walking is nearly impossible because every step one takes they have to worry about a patch of ice or maybe a freak accident with an icicle falling and hitting someone. Not only do birds disappear, but people seem to go in to hibernation for the whole season. Most seem a lot less pleasant and helpful. It’s nice to look outside your window and see kids playing catch out front, or a couple on a Sunday stroll, or even the occasional jogger that wants to get out with their dog.

Everyone has their favorite season, but spring is by far the best. The weather isn’t too hot, or too cold and the breeze is the icing on top of the cake. The scenery changes dramatically and everything seems to become more uplifting and refreshing. When the birds come back and being their little tunes, it’s just a positive reminder that there is so much beauty in this world, and people should truly feel fortunate to get to enjoy it.
