A volleyball game gets intense, and as it comes to post-season games, that level of play only increases. The volleyball team is getting ready for their regional semifinal on Thursday against Clear Creek Amana, and it is going to be a good game. Isabella Sade, junior, and the rest of the girls are looking to keep advancing and punch their ticket to the state tournament.
The game will not just be an easy matchup for the highly-ranked Indians. “It’s definitely hard to beat a good team twice, so even though we beat them in the regular season it’s going to be a tough game,” explained Sade. Everyone will have to be healthy and ready to play their game.
Last time they played Clear Creek, it was close. Sade stated, “It was a rough game; we didn’t play that well as a team,” The girls still got it done.
The game will be exciting for fans and players alike. Tanea Westhoff, junior, said, “We are all very excited for this game, we are very prepared because we have played them before,” They have had some time since their last game to practice as well.
This time, they hope to be more ready and will try to get the clean sweep. “We’re going to focus on playing together as a team and looking at their weaknesses and trying to take advantage,” Sade said. This game is the second-to-last step on their road to state.
This win is important because it is an elimination game, and the last shot for the seniors. “We don’t just want to win, but we want to win it for our seniors. They are part of the reason that we are where we are this week and we want to make the season last, for them,” emphasized Morgan Swanger, junior. Getting the win is vital to continue in the post-season.
Every girl is preparing mentally and physically. “We’ll get the win by going all out, and with the mentality that any game could be our last,” stated Haley Dullea, senior. The senior girls are ready to lead the others on their final journey.
The more support for the team, the better. “Come and wear a Halloween costume,” Sade requested of students. There has been a lot of support in previous games, and there is no reason for that to change now.
With a loud crowd, a cheering bench and a big dream, the team will give it their all to pursue the state goal of last season.
