In December of 2015, boy band fans lost one of the biggest groups. One Direction announced their hiatus, ending a long five years with five albums. They even made a video for their song History, which seemed like a goodbye to fans, whether temporary or forever. The question remains, however: will One Direction return?
Though various members of the group have said that they plan on returning, there isn’t a definite time set. During a Twitter chat with fans, Liam Payne told fans that he was “100% certain” that they would come back. Similar statements have been giving by other members Harry Styles and Niall Horan, but fans don’t have a clear idea of when the band will be working together again.
Despite reassurances from members, there seem to be a few hurdles for the band. Louis Tomlinson is a new father and is dealing with the recent death of his mother. He performed the new song “Just Hold On” with Steve Aoki on The Tonight Show in tribute to her. There are rumors of Payne and his girlfriend Cheryl Fernandez-Versini having a baby of their own, and he has recently tweeted about being in the studio, solo. Horan has a song on the radio currently, and Styles played a small role in the movie “Dunkirk.”
Each member of One Direction is doing their own thing during the hiatus, but still, have fans patiently waiting for the return of one of the top boy bands in the country.
