If you have ever seen a movie, you know it takes a lot of work and a lot of time. But for Woody Harrelson, it only takes 90 minutes. This Thursday, in Iowa City there is a special screening for a unique movie. The screening of Woody Harrelson’s project, “Lost in London” will take place at 7:30 pm with a questionnaire taking place right after the 90 minute screening. The movie stars Owen Wilson, who you may know from movies like “Cars,” “Zoolander,” and “Marley and me,” and Woody Harrelson, who you may know from “Hunger Games,” “Cheers,” and “Zombieland.”
This movie has never been shown in the states before. The first and only time it has been shown before is in London, on January 19th, 2017. It was broadcast live to a bunch of theatres. But why is this movie so unique? Besides the fact that Harrelson wrote, produced and starred in the movie, the whole shabang was filmed in one take. That’s right, all 90 minutes, featuring foot and car chases, and ending in prison. The event will take place at UI’s Iowa memorial union, and seats are first come first served.
The Movie itself was not received well by critics. The problem? The characters and story were slaves to the concept, but it was executed well. “But it is a brilliant technical and logistical achievement, especially from a first-time director previously known for comedy and character roles…” said critic, Nick Curtis. The movie is kind of a mystery, no one knows what it is about, but it was inspired by a night in Harrelson’s life, according to the Cedar Rapids Gazette.
Unfortunately, the movie may not be suitable for all ages, so be careful who you bring. If you want more information visit the university of Iowa’s lecture website. The special night will also have a $50 dinner you can attend with the actor himself. This event is a fun way to spend a Thursday night, and it might be a once in a lifetime chance.
