Judging school dances

An opinion is a view or judgement formed about something, but one needs to know when respect comes into play.

School dances are put together by a specific class, and many put a ton of their time and effort into preparing for these events. An opinion is just that, an opinion. It doesn’t mean that others with different opinions are wrong. It’s time that people start to keep opinions to themselves.

A dance can be as fun or as lame as a person makes it. A positive attitude will get you a long way. But tweeting about how ‘stupid’ or how ‘pathetic’ a dance was is disrespectful and irrelevant.

A group of people had to put in work to accomplish setting up for a dance and everything that happens during. People’s negative comments ruin their sense of success.

Now onto music; people don’t want to hear about how the music was ‘trash’. An opportunity was given for students to request songs. The people who are complaining are most likely the ones who didn’t request a song in the first place. The song playlist should not determine how a dance goes, if someone wants to have fun then they will make it fun.

Everybody has different genres of music they like, and we need to respect that. Keep in mind, the music must be school appropriate. If a person’s idea of fun is based off of the music than that person or group of people should set up their own dance.

All in all, judging a school dance is disrespectful. The amount of fun you get out of a dance is based off of the amount of fun you put into it.

No matter the dance, a group of people work really hard to make it as fun as possible, but complaining about it ruins their hard work.
