Hawks to play SEC runner up Florida in the Outback Bowl

After a dismal 45-16 loss to Stanford in the Rose Bowl game on January 1, 2016, questions were on how Iowa would respond after going 12-2 and going 12-0 in the regular season last year. After the 23-21 loss to North Dakota State, fans were upset. Iowa also lost to Northwestern, Wisconsin, and Penn State.

With winning out the rest of the year which included wins over Michigan and Nebraska, this was not what Iowa fans hoped for. They wanted to return to the Big Ten championship game as the West Division representative for the second year in a row. Even still, Iowa will be heading to Tampa, Florida for the Outback Bowl to play against the Florida Gators.

Florida finished 8-4 on the year and went to the SEC Championship game to play powerhouse Alabama. Florida lost to Alabama 54-16. Both the Gators and the Hawkeyes hope to end their season off with a bang.

My prediction: Iowa 28 Florida 21
