Final days for familiar faces

By: Chloe Rice @Cmrice44 [Staff Writer]

While the 2015-2016 school year is quickly coming to an end, most people can leave knowing that they will be coming back to Marion next year. However, some people, including teachers, will not be coming back for different reasons.

Two of Marion’s teachers will not be returning next year. Mrs. Pins, family and consumer science teacher, and Mrs. Koeppen, math teacher, will be moving to a different school.

Mrs. Pins has been teaching at Marion for five years. The job she is taking next year will be half health classes and half family and consumer science classes at Cascade, teaching junior high through senior-aged kids.

Mrs. Koeppen has taught at Marion for fourteen years. Next year, she will be teaching at Ankeny for eighth and ninth graders.

Both teachers can agree that students are one of the things that they will miss most about Marion. “I’m going to miss the students. They’re just so kind and friendly. They say ‘thank you’ as a reflex,” said Pins. “I will miss the staff and students,” said Koeppen.

While both teachers will be leaving Marion at the end of the year, they want another great teacher to fill their positions. They want people to apply that will have a positive impact on the students and school in general. We thank them, and wish them luck in their future teaching jobs.

Good luck to the teachers leaving Marion this year, and welcome to whoever takes their place.
