Cut the budget cuts

By: Danielle Teirnan, Vox Co-Editor-in-Cheif

Budget cuts have been happening all around the United States, in many businesses and especially schools. Marion High School is just one out of the many that are also facing budget problems.

Marion High School is forced to cut around $1.1 million from their budget, and unfortunately they have to do it by cutting jobs, but why are just the maintenance and custodian jobs being cut the most? Who’s going to do their jobs when they’re gone? Yeah, they could hire new people, but the new people wouldn’t do as good of a job as the old employees did, and they would have to go through the hassle of retraining.

When you fire or cut the hours of the custodians who’s going to clean up? Maybe they can ask for volunteers, but how many people are actually going to sign up? Chances are not very many. Sure, they can make students clean up, when they get into trouble, but it’s probably not going to be as good as someone who’s doing it as a job.

Who’s going to clean up after the careless students? Who’s going to fix the buses when they break down? These are just a couple of problems that need to be solved when the budget cuts are made! Now it’s all up to Marion High School to decide what they’re going to do to solve this problem.
