“Bleed for This:” a knockout film


There are hundreds of movies that come out every year, so what makes one movie stand out? “Bleed for This” is based on Vinny Pazienza, a boxer, who gained stardom after winning two world title fights. A near fatal car accident leaves Pazienza with a broken neck and the possibility of never walking again. But despite doctors orders, he begins training again and returns to the boxing ring a year after his accident.

Many people have been eager for the release of “Bleed for This”. Isabella Rooks, ‘20, is among those excited for today’s release,“I want to see it because after his accident he had the inspiration to get out of bed and achieve his goals,” Rooks isn’t the only one who is inspired by Pazienza determination. “It looks like a good, inspiring movie. I compare it to ‘Rocky’,” said Marshall Boche, ‘19.

Vinny “The Pazmanian Devil” Pazienza is portrayed by Miles Teller, who is an actor and musician. Teller is known for his roles in “Whiplash”, “The Spectacular Now”, “Divergent”, and “War Dogs”. The trainer who helps in getting Pazienza back into the ring, Kevin Rooney, is depicted by Aaron Eckhart. Eckhart is an actor and producer who is most recognised for his work in “The Dark Knight”, “Battle Los Angles”, and “Olympus Has Fallen”.

Showings begin today, and showtimes are available at Wehrenberg Galaxy 16 Cine in Cedar Rapids and Carmike Wynnsong 12, also in Cedar Rapids.
